The crochet doll is the queen of handmade toys — part toy, part nursery decor, and with a name embroidered on it, a lifelong keepsake. Here is how to tell a quality doll from the rest.

Five marks of quality

  • Tight stitches — no stuffing visible between loops
  • Cotton yarn, soft and breathable against baby skin
  • An embroidered face for younger children — nothing to detach
  • Hair and accessories sewn firmly in place
  • Hand-washable without losing shape

Dressed or classic?

Dressed dolls — with crocheted outfits, hats and shoes — are miniature characters and the stars of recent years. Classic one-piece dolls are simpler and more practical for the youngest ages. For children under three, always choose embroidered faces.

A hand-embroidered name is what turns a doll from "a gift" into "their doll". Every Aselovers doll is crocheted stitch by stitch in our Istanbul workshop.
