A handmade crochet toy suits any age — but the "right" one changes with the child. If you're buying a gift, just think about the recipient's age and the choice gets much easier.
Newborn (0-6 months)
At this stage the toy is mostly décor and a keepsake. A soft amigurumi with embroidered eyes and no small parts, or a nursery piece, is ideal. Name embroidery makes a lovely "welcome baby" gift.
Infant (6-18 months)
Everything goes in the mouth now. Tightly crocheted, well-stitched, washable cotton toys are the ones to pick. Easy-to-hold animals — bunny, bear, giraffe — are favourites at this age.
Toddler (1.5-3 years)
Characters start to matter: your child now says "my bunny". Slightly larger, huggable amigurumi and colourful sets fit this age well. Name embroidery deepens the bond.
Preschool (3+ years)
Imagination takes over. Characterful models — unicorns, dragons, safari animals — and little play sets draw them in. A custom design (your choice of colour or model) makes the gift unforgettable.
Not sure? Message us with the child's age and we'll suggest a few. We crochet every piece to order anyway, so we can choose the colour and model together.
